Ten months ago, more than $400,000 in taxpayer money disappeared in what city officials called a “scam.” It was the second time in just two years that funds vanished from the Mount Vernon Comptroller’s Office.
Are these thefts being investigated? Are our city leaders demanding investigations?
Residents should prepare themselves, because that “missing” money will magically reappear on our tax bills in the form of yet another property tax increase.
