For decades, Mount Vernon has been under one-party rule. Democrats have held every lever of power. What has this dominance brought us? Who has prospered? Who has suffered? And most importantly, where is the accountability?
Mount Vernon citizen complaints are growing
- There is human waste in our water, literally, and instead of answering our questions, City Hall attacks the very people begging for help. One city official calls concerned citizens "provocateurs."
- An elected official who also works for the Mount Vernon Police Department files a false police report, yet she still draws a paycheck using our tax dollars. No suspension, no investigation, no consequences.
- The elected head of the Library Board openly and notoriously flouts Open Meetings Law and FOIL, interferes in elections, and regularly attacks residents on social media. The democrat led state looks the other way.
- Developers are allowed to erect multi-story buildings, many at the expense of taxpayers. One building was allowed to be built five inches from a resident’s home, in flagrant violation of planning approvals. And the city’s response? “So what, sue us.”
- When residents actually sue, their cases are tossed out without serious consideration by judges with ties to the machine, and then the city threatens to use our tax dollars to sue us.
- The mayor wastes millions of dollars on an unauthorized "detail," but always has her hand out for more property taxes.
- A woman was shot in the head at one of the busiest entrances to our city. From the Democrat mayor when our neighbors are killed in Mount Vernon? Crickets. No outrage. No action. Nothing.
- The homeless rule our parks, rats rule our streets, but City Hall finds money to throw a party in Lake Placid, and apparently the entire city government is invited. On our dime.
- It is reported that the Mayor openly brags that she is protected against any prosecution of illegal activity.
- Money continually goes missing without investigations or accountability
- County Government sends Mount Vernon the bulk of the County’s homeless, Mental health patients, sex offenders, drug treatment centers, etc. Mount Vernon taxpayers are forced to pay the bill.
- Many residents complain of being financially shaken down by some Mount Vernon Building Department workers, just to receive a building permit

What have Democrats actually done for Mount Vernon, besides exploit it?
Many complain that under their watch, this city has not grown, it has rotted. One Democrat mayor after another has been accused, convicted, or credibly suspected of corruption. Now we are stuck with a mayor whose incompetence is matched only by her reckless appointments of equally unqualified department heads.
The City Council passes laws so poorly written that any first year law student could point out their illegality.
And it’s about to get worse. On January 1, 2026, Mount Vernon will swear in a new council member with no experience or qualifications. Worse still, a political insider with long standing ties to the same machine that brought us here will take a seat on the bench, beating out a qualified, independent judge who actually did the job well.
Even our schools aren’t safe. While we may finally have a capable superintendent, the mayor has already stacked the school board with her loyalists, ensuring that even education is within her grasp.
The Hard Truth: Mount Vernon Is Collapsing, and It’s Not an AccidentMount Vernon is drowning in corruption, crime, election fraud, homelessness, environmental hazards, and urban decay.
It’s widely seen as one of the most mismanaged cities in America, and our mayor mocks the very residents she was elected to serve. Yet Democrat leaders from across New York State bend over backwards to protect and preserve this broken regime.
Why?
This isn’t just poor leadership. It’s systemic. Many residents in our city understand that the connection between Mount Vernon’s collapse and long term Democrat rule, is not a coincidence, it’s a straight line.
A government’s most fundamental duty is to protect its citizens. However, the people of Mount Vernon are not being protected, we are not safe. It’s our families, our neighborhoods, and our future paying the price. Mount Vernon has become a source of frustration and embarrassment, and we can’t fix this alone. We need support from Democrats across the state to help us.
