The citizens of Mount Vernon are speaking out.
They have lost faith in Mayor Shawyn Patterson Howard’s leadership. Mount Vernon citizens are exhausted by the millions of dollars in missing funds, persistent mismanagement, tax increases, massive pay raises, and widespread corruption at every level of city government. Mount Vernon has become a symbol of dysfunction and failed leadership, and is now widely viewed as the worst run city in America.Residents are suffering, and their anger is clear, justified, and growing. Public trust has been shattered, accountability is absent, and confidence in City Hall has collapsed. Mount Vernon’s government has effectively declared economic war on its own citizens, by prioritizing political donors and developers over the people it is meant to serve.
